I started this series about a year ago by chance while browsing through my photo archives looking for an image to illustrate the poem of a Mexican friend, Hugo Plascencia. I realized that many photos taken over the years reflected a common atmosphere and linked together, told a dark history of our time, at the dawn of the century that began, filled with a certain pessimism that replaced the optimism of my parents’ generation.
